Oh, I know there won’t be many of you hitting the Internet this bright Monday; there’s just too much going on.
Last week, when I was contemplating my blog for today, I thought about coming up with a clever re-write of the Night Before Christmas:
‘Twas the night before Christmas
and all through the mystery community
felonious characters were seeking immunity . . .
You can see why I stopped. I’m just not quite familiar enough with the poem to pull off a parody.
Then, I thought about a post for the rest of us — those who don’t celebrate Christmas. And, well, that seemed mighty ungracious. Ya know?
Then, just when I wondered if I ought to post one of those cutesy cards — with the little kids with the huge eyes, two dots for their noses and tiny puckered lips — a friend emailed me this video.
(On the very real chance that I messed up this whole embedding thing, here’s the link)
So . . .
If you want to play along, post your favorite holiday music links. I don’t care what holiday you want to celebrate, just share your goodies with the rest of us.
That’s it for today.
Enjoy the holiday, if you celebrate it, OR if you’re simply off work.
For those of you who have to work today or tomorrow . . . thank you for keeping the world going while the rest of us lounge around eating that second helping of fudge.
I’m rather partial to Adam Sandler’s Hanukkah song, myself:

Happy holidays to all!
I’d pick this grand old blues version from Charles Brown:

Happiest Holidays to you all!
Argh! I can’t believe the embedding thing didn’t work. I followed the simplest directions and blew it.
Oh, well. I hope everyone takes the time to look at the video; it’s a hoot.
Thanks to Tammy and Louise for the links.
Please, if you’re online today, share some more. It’ll make all our holidays even brighter.
Joy. Joy. Merry. Merry.
I’m making my once daily internet visit ; )
Like I could miss a Monday.

Here’s my contribution. Something that always puts me into the Christmas spirit.
And if anyone has snow, could you gaze adoringly at it for me? I’ll trade you one deep, longing gaze at the ocean…
Merry, merry, joy, joy to you too!
Tammy,What a great video; I’d never seen this version. I love his irreverence.
Louise,Boy is that a sweeeet rendition.
J.T.,We’ve got snow on the mountains. You know from your Colorado days what that looks like — tall, craggy blue peaks under a light white blanket.
Enjoy the ocean . . .
And here’s my Christmas contribution, thanks to Dar Williams.

Pari, I have never yet been able to figure out how to embed things. Without our 18 year old here, I may never learn!
Happy Everything, everyone!
Hey, I’m all for celebrating as many holidays as possible. I missed Hannukkah this year, but I made it up to the local pagan group’s celebration of Yule. Bring on Christmas, Boxing Day, Kwanzaa, New Year’s, Twelfth Night or el dia de los tres reyes…. Does anyone know much about Dinali?I’ll take any excuse not to grade papers right now…
Louise: I love irreverence in all it’s forms. Glad you enjoyed the video.
Fran: Thanks for posting that! I *love* Dar Williams, and that song in particular. Here’s another video – this one is of Dar performing the song live: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_Xdk4PujOE
What great links. Thanks for the ones of Dar; I didn’t know her music before today.
J.T. — that Charlie Brown video is etched in my memory from childhood, the rendition of the tune so simple, stark and soulful.
Paperback . . .I’m with you on holidays. Actually my younger child declared it “parent’s day” today and gifted us with items found around our house. I got a great prism that I’d lost years ago and had no idea what had happened to it.
An exquisite rendition of my favorite carol:http://youtube.com/watch?v=5aP2FMuvwkk
Peace and joy to every one.

That was simply exquisite, B.G.
Thank you.
